FINN & LARA
I completed my industry standard NPTC arboriculture training in 2007 and now have almost 16 years of skills and experience in Tree Surgery and the Arboriculture Industry. I began my career in central Scotland and since then have worked as a professional arborist in London, New Zealand and France.
Over the years I have gained a solid amount of practical experience in climbing, dismantling, rigging, lowering, pruning procedures, and felling dangerous trees for both domestic clients and commercial organisations (and came 10th in the NZ South Island Tree Climbing Competition 2011!).
In the early days following our move to France, Lara helped in building the business and has now moved on to focus on her own studies while still taking calls to our office.
OUR TEAM
Roots & Shoots is a small family-run tree surgery business based in the heart of the Perigord Noir region of the Dordogne.
Having moved here from Scotland in 2016, we have spent the past 7 years building up a professional and friendly tree service. I am now joined on site most days by my friend Paul Slater. And rounding out the team is Rusty the border terrier.

When we work on large/complex trees Roots & Shoots relies on the help of our friend Paul Slater, another local experienced, fully qualified arborist - very expert groundsman and rigging wizard!
We are often joined on site by Rusty the log dog: site supervisor and quality control guru!
Life in France
In between work, hanging out at home with my family in the garden or mini trips in the camper van, I love to soar above the beautiful countryside here in the Perigord with my paraglider.
